Little Bits of Nature
Born and raised in the deep woods of Northern Michigan. I’ve always been inspired by the wild beauty around me –forest floors, winding brooks, scattered stones, and ever –changing skies. I work with loose beads, gemstones, glass, sterling silver, gold-filled, brass, copper and leather; creating jewelry that reflects the shapes, colors, and textures of the natural world.
Symmetry isn’t a priority in my work—nature doesn’t follow rules, and neither do I. One blue bead might become a piece of the sky, red a flash of sunset, a pearl a wisp of cloud or snow, amber the richness of earth. I think of animals, leaves, insects, flowers, and the light filtering through trees as I work and often add them in my pieces.
My lifelong friend and I grew up collecting stones and treasures from the woods. Watching her create inspired me to explore my own style. What started as a playful curiosity has grown into a deeply personal craft.
My Mother used to tell me, “Leave some for others to collect.” I still hear her words when I gather beads—but now; I share what I create with all of you.
My jewelry can be found at several Northern Michigan art spaces, primarily The Historic Totem Village (website) In the Upper Peninsula Michigan. Including the rustic and beloved Shrine of the Pines – Baldwin, Michigan in the Lower Peninsula.
